    The Challenge

A full re-roof of a two-storey residential property in Probus called for access to three distinct roofs: the main pyramid roof, the attached garage and the projecting front porch.

The scaffold needed to accommodate an adjoining neighbouring property, a rear conservatory and restricted foundation positions, while providing working access for the roofing contractors.

What scaffolding is needed for a full re-roof?

Access must follow the building and the roofing sequence. For this installation, independent tied scaffolding with boarded working levels was combined with a temporary roof to protect the work area while the existing roof covering was being replaced.

    The Solution

    ≈255 m²

A mono-pitch temporary roof, supported by alloy lattice beams, provided weather protection. The access scaffold was planned around the garage, porch and conservatory, with independent tied scaffolding and boarded working levels.

Why temporary roofing needs specialist consideration

Temporary roofing introduces its own structural and weather-loading considerations. It must not be assumed to fall within a TG20:21 access-scaffold compliance sheet; the temporary roof and supporting scaffold require the appropriate design assessment.

    The Details Matter

The rear conservatory, neighbouring gable, attached garage and projecting front porch all shaped the installation. Alloy lattice beams allowed the temporary roof structure to bridge features below, with working access arranged beside the existing roof.

    When is temporary roofing useful?

It is useful when a roof is opened up and the programme needs temporary weather protection. The building, exposure, proposed work and site constraints determine the suitable approach; a site assessment confirms the design.
