    Scaffolding in Launceston

Launceston grew up around its castle, and its old centre is full of stone and slate buildings on steep streets. We scaffold homes, shops and farm buildings here and across Camelford, Altarnun and Lewannick.

Reached from our Carnon Downs yard via the A30.

The buildings we scaffold around Launceston

The streets around the castle and the Square are lined with older stone buildings, many of them listed, with slate roofs and tall chimneys. Newer estates have grown on the edge of town. Camelford is a small stone town on the edge of the moor, Altarnun a village of granite cottages, and Lewannick a rural parish of farmhouses and barns. Chimney repairs, re-roofs, heritage work and access for barn conversions are common jobs.

    Moorland weather and steep ground

Launceston and the villages towards the moor are exposed, so we design each scaffold to TG20:21 with the site's wind loading in mind and plan ties and sheeting to match. The old town is built on a hill, which means stepped base lifts and careful set-out on sloping streets. On rural jobs we check ground conditions and wagon access at the survey.

    How a Launceston job runs

Our own stock comes from our yard at Carnon Downs. After the survey you get a written assessment within 24 hours, and most scaffolds go up 5 to 7 working days after acceptance. Our CISRS-qualified crews hand over with a scaff-tag, we inspect every seven days, and we carry £5m public liability cover. We are CHAS accredited and rated 5.0 on Google.
