Scaffolding in Penzance
Penzance faces Mount's Bay, and that means salt, wind and granite. We scaffold Georgian and Regency townhouses, seafront terraces and harbour-side buildings here, as well as homes in Newlyn, Mousehole, Marazion and St Just.
Reached from our Carnon Downs yard via the A30.
The buildings we scaffold around Penzance
Chapel Street and the streets behind the Promenade are lined with tall Georgian and Regency houses, many of them listed, with slate roofs and substantial chimneys. Newlyn and Mousehole pack cottages tightly around their harbours, Marazion has older stone houses looking out to the Mount, and St Just brings granite miners' terraces on the far west coast. Chimney repairs, slate re-roofs, render and repaint work and careful scaffolds on heritage buildings are typical jobs here.
Coastal exposure and tight streets
West Penwith takes the full force of Atlantic weather, so we design each scaffold to TG20:21 with the site's wind exposure in mind, and plan sheeting and ties to suit. The harbour villages have steep, narrow lanes where a wagon cannot get close, so we plan loading and hand-carrying at the survey. On seafront and listed buildings we protect stonework and finishes where the scaffold meets the building.
How a Penzance job runs
Our own stock comes from our yard at Carnon Downs. After the survey you get a written assessment within 24 hours, and most scaffolds go up 5 to 7 working days after acceptance. Our CISRS-qualified crews hand over with a scaff-tag, we inspect every seven days, and we carry £5m public liability cover. We are CHAS accredited and rated 5.0 on Google.
