Redruth's housing is dominated by tall Victorian and Edwardian granite terraces climbing Fore Street, Clinton Road and Sea View Terrace, with pockets of Methodist chapels and mine-captain villas along Trewirgie and Falmouth Road. Chimneys are unusually tall — three-storey terraces with stacks another eight to ten courses above the ridge are common — so chimney work here almost always needs a full independent rig past the ridge rather than a saddle.
